Abstract- The chapter begins with soldiers barreling towards them as Henry loads his gun and notices the tall man tie a red handkerchief around his neck after loading his gun. The General tells there captain a motivational speech and they begin the fighting. Henry gets a red rage and just loads his gun and fires repeatedly. They drive the enemy away as the chapter ends and Henry experiences his first battle.
Response-I think the fear and excitement come together as Henry fights off the enemy that's what keeps him alive as he sees fellow soldiers die. I couldn't imagine how horrid and overall depressing it would be to see a battle like that and all the wounded and fallen soldiers.
Question- Why doesn't Henry run?
